    A guide based on your assumptions, before vacancy, bills and other costs. It is not guaranteed income.
    Your asking rent
    The amount advertised for the exact room or place. Posting does not mean it is booked or paid.
    Agreed rent
    The current terms confirmed with the other person. An agreement is separate from payment.
    Recorded payments
    Household records distinguish a reported payment from recipient confirmation. Payments happen elsewhere; recording one does not move money.

    Common questions about MatesPlace

    Do I need to pay to list a room?

    Eligible personal-room listings are free within the existing free allowance and fair-use rules. Add room details and photos, then review before publication.

    Is whole-place advertising free?

    Whole-place drafts and previews are free. Before publication, we confirm the current eligible advertising access, including any available promotion or paid campaign. Eligible Business coverage and existing listing rights are honoured.

    Do renters or households need a paid plan?

    Ordinary renter participation stays free. Household Plus is optional and adds organiser tools for one household move; free household tools remain available.

    Is Identity verification required?

    Identity verification is optional. A verified badge requires a successful check. Payment alone does not create a verified badge. A successful Identity check does not verify property ownership or guarantee conduct or transaction safety.

    How does Mates Place help with safety?

    We focus on on-platform messaging, profile quality signals and reporting tools so members can make informed decisions.

    Should I pay a deposit before viewing?

    No. Inspect first and keep communication on-platform until you are ready.

    How do I report a suspicious listing?

    Use the report tools on listing and safety pages, or contact support through the Safety Center. Reports help our team review concerns.
